Wadaiko Rindo Sydney was established in 2010 by two members, Koji and Akiko, with the generous support and guidance of Toshi and Junko Sakamoto, the founder of Wadaiko Rindo. After having trained as the students of Toshi and Junko in Melbourne, Koji and Akiko started performing in Sydney to share the Wadaiko Rindo’s powerful rhythms and rich cultural heritage of traditional Japanese taiko drumming with the local communities. The team currently has 20 members from beginners to advanced. Wadaiko Rindo Sydney actively participates in performing at local festivals and cultural events, driven to entertain and inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds and connect with communities near and far.
